Cendrillon (Cinderella) (1899)

Georges Melies‘ films were the first of its kind. He was the original magician of film and brought the two mediums of film production and narrative into one. As absurd as some may be, there is a charm to the primitive nature.

I understand this isn’t a photograph from the film I’m writing about, but I couldn’t find any! This 3 minute long rendition of Cinderella is phenomenal. We watch it now after seeing so many versions of this one story, and its really quite funny to see it play out so quickly. After all they had no choice in these early days of film production. It’s like one second she’s a maid, the next she’s already lost her glass slipper. There are the original 10 seconds films I guess. Watch this here. It’s absolutely delightful!
